About the Founder – Dara Sklar
Founder is an avid home-surfer
Like many home-buyers, Dara Sklar had been perusing MLS.ca and many Vancouver Realtors’ websites for years. It was always one of her big pet peeves to encounter Realtors’ websites with listings that were out of date, or that showed poorly marketed homes.
Buying a condo in early 2005 introduced Dara to her Realtor. He was great, but simply too busy to take care of his own website. Given her own computer skills and helpful nature, Dara could not let her Realtor’s website lie dormant. She quickly began to work with him on his website, applying her personal experience as a buyer, her computer/internet skills, and developing new approaches as she went.
Ubertor Web Sites – a great idea surfaces
When Dara’s Realtor switched to an Ubertor website, she took care of the content transfer, creation of pages, inputting of active listings (with photos and virtual tours), and inputting of over 100 sold listings! At this point she realized that other Ubertor Realtor clients would benefit from the same high level of service.
In the first three months, Dara quickly had over ten clients. It was clear that Realtors recognized the value of the services she provided. And thus was born Realty Support Services, with over 400 happy clients served!
Realty Support Services specializes in using the Ubertor website software, and offers Realtors the opportunity to benefit from that fact. They are constantly learning about changes and new products and services available for marketing of homes for sale via the internet. Dara is always on top of new ideas and new features of the system.
Administrative & Marketing Experience – and an eye for typos
Professionally, Dara has enjoyed doing administrative and computer work since the age of 16. She worked as an Office Manager while she finished her Bachelor of Commerce at Concordia University in Montreal, and as Western Operations Manager for a sporting goods distributor (Black Knight) for over five years. Both personally and professionally, she is somewhat of a perfectionist – especially aware of typos, spelling and grammatical errors on people’s websites. (Dara says that she is somewhat embarrassed to admit, “I have even been known to call or email Realtors to let them know about such errors in their listing descriptions… “window shudders” instead of “window shutters” is one that comes to mind.”) Doing things the “Dara” way translates into an even better service to Realty Support clients who benefit from Dara’s picky eye for detail as well as the multitude of other skills she brings to the table.
On a Personal Level
Dara moved to Vancouver in 2001 from Montreal and has never looked back. She loves Vancouver and showing it off to visiting friends and family. Dara was an avid cycle commuter since the bus strike in April of 2001, and more recently started driving a scooter around town. Dara’s sports of choice are Ultimate Frisbee (Vancouver Ultimate League team: Slow Children Playing) and Squash (member at Jericho Tennis Club, participant in the Vancouver City Squash League and many tournaments, and proud user of Black Knight racquets and accessories!).
