Thank you from the YMCA New Ventures class (Vancouver)

I was invited to speak to the YMCA New Ventures group (in Vancouver) about Social Media for business. The session yesterday was three hours long – we must have been having fun, because the time went by so quickly!

I received the following feedback from the organizers (Debbie and Miriam) of the YMCA New Ventures class in Vancouver,

“They are very engaged and I think having such an engaging speaker/topic helps too. Thanks for doing a fantastic job! … The feedback from the group was great- your presentation and the information you provided was timely, current and well presented.”

I am glad to have gotten such a positive from this great group – I had a wonderful time speaking to them, and really enjoyed putting my own course outline together for the occasion.~ Dara

Facebook brings business

My husband makes fun of me for having so many Facebook friends… but time and time again, my propensity to add clients and old friends to Facebook has “paid off”.

Really, I like it to catch up with and get to know people in a less formal setting. However, a positive side effect is that people remember me because we’re Facebook friends. I’ve had at least a couple dozen interactions in the last couple of years with clients and past clients who have contacted me because of our Facebook friendship.

I only add people I know, or accept people I want to network with (99.5% former, 0.5% latter), but clearly this passive approach works.

This post was spurred by a Facebook message moments ago from a long-ago client who didn’t have my email address handy and was looking to do a Property Management website. Hopefully we can work on that together!
